Jr hits the blog! Wow! What an accomplishment!

Hello all!
Oh my, we've really got something to talk about today!
No joke at all!
Most of the time, we try to stay on-topic about technology on this blog, but today, we needed to take some time to write a funny article about this really funny guy.
The funny guy that we will be talking about today is a guy from Denison, Ia.
Jr Paully!
Folks, if you don't know who Jr Paully is, you will soon learn!
Trust me!
hahaha!
Anyway, this guy is sooooooooo funny!
Let me tell ya why!
First, you go to an auction, and basically, it's just sun-burned serious stuff.
Oh no, not when you walk into this place.
First, you get the pleasant smell of Jr's air freshner, also known as manure!
hahahahahahahahaha!
lol!
Then, there's the jokes!
Who knows what you'll hear him joking about in there during the sale.
Let's cover some of the stuff I heard today, when selling my cattle.
Jr: "Are you gunna keep all this money for yourself, or give some of it to your mom?"
Me: "Well, I think I'll keep it for myself!"
Jr: "ahh, your gunna keep it for yourself, I figured that."
Jr: "Yah, he said mom, if I make money off these calvs I am keeping it for myself. If I lose mony, then these are your cattle."
hahahahahahahahaha!
Ok, so after they sell my steers and all that, there was a steer in the ring that was blind.
I saw them trying to help him, and that's excellent!
As a result, I'm posting this here for Jr.
Guess what?
Remember when the Americans with Disibilities act, ADA, was written in 1990?
Well guess what?
The Cattle with Disibilities Act, CDA, was written in 2010!
Here is what it says
Rule number 1.
Be sure to try to help them in any way.
Rule number 2.
Give there trailer guide a bell if a calf is blind.
Rule number 3.
If blind, give them a cc, otherwise known as a cattle cane!
If unable to walk, give them a cattle chair, to stear themselves around with at least one of there hooves.
So there you go, the CDA is now complete!
Ok!
Here we go!
The moment we've all ben waiting for!

Some helpful tutorials now available!

Hello all!
Today, I will be talking about good resources for finding good and helpful blindness related tutorials.
First,
Techy Tidbits
has a good tutorial all about navigating and using the Samsung Intensity cell phone from Verizon Wireless.
You can download it by
Clicking Here
It is a zip archive consisting of 8 mp3 files that you can play with windows media player, or your favorite program such as
Gold Wave
Access Watch
has two free tutorials available, one on using the popular
Rapsity music service
and one on using Nerrow 8.
Even though these tutorials may be abit out of date, they are still a good resource.
Access watch also lists several resources for finding blindness related tutorials and podcasts.
Also, some assistive technology that we buy, also may come with a few cd's.
Depending on what kind of piece of equipment this piece of assistive technology is, one may consist of software, and one may consist of a tutorial.
99.9% of the time, these cd's will usually be brailled.
Also,
Gw Micro
has some tutorials on using there screen reader,
Window-eyes
There are many other blindness related tutorials out on the net these days, some text, some audio.
Another good source for finding tutorials is
The Empowerment Zone

Finding Email Lists

Greetings!
In today's article, we will be talking about good sources for finding email lists.
First, though, what is an email list?
An email list is a service that people will post messages to, and the server, then has a full database of email addresses, and the server then tells the list, ok, send the message that was just posted by John to all of these email addresses.
As a result, everyone that has subscribed to the list, gets that message.
Ok, now that we know what an email list is, how do we find them?
Well, there are several email lists out there on the net these days.
A good source for finding thousands of lists is
Free Lists
Another good source for finding email lists is
Yahoo Groups
And, yet another good source is
Google Groups
Whether you're blind or sighted, there is an email list out there for you!
I hope you have found this article helpful, and you are encouraged to call are comment line at 206-337-4505 and leave us your feedback!
Please note: The comment line is just a voicemail box, so you may call anytime.

Is choosing a screen reader that hard of a decision?

Hi all!
Today, I will tell you how you can decide if a screen reader is right for you.
First, I would suggest asking yourself, "Ok, what is it that I am going to be using the computer for?"
If you say, word processing, and writing emails, then the built in screen reader in windows called narator should be the one that would save you money.
This screen reader uses sappy, a speech engine made by
Microsoft corperation
However, if you tell yourself, "I want to do heavy web browsing, programming, etc, etc", then you may want to consider a screen reader with higher functionality such as
Window-eyes
a screen reader made by
Gw Micro, Inc
Another screen reader you might want to consider is
Jaws for Windows
made by
Freedom Scientific, Inc
A free, open source, screen reader is
N V D A
They all have there pros and cons, but you can download demos of each screen reader at there respective websites.
Also, there are several email lists out there that discuss screen readers.
A good source for finding email lists is
Free Lists
I hope that you have found this article helpful, and I am verry open to any feedback you have on this subject.
You can either leave a comment on this post, or you can

Elevator! Oh know! Where's your guide dog, dude?

Greetings all!
Uhhhhhhhhh! Those evil elevators!
Ok, so here's the story on this deal.
I was going to the guiding eyes reception, and my mom was going somewhere, I don't remember where.
So, here I am, I'm thinking, "Oh, I'll get up there just fine!"
Good gravy over mashed potatoes!
Was that ever an out of range estimate!
I hit the button to go down to the 2nd floor, you know.
So I get there, and oops!
I took the wrong turn!
So, I get up on the elevator that I just got off, and the guy was like,
"So what floor do you need, sir?"
I said, "30th, please."
The guy responds and says
"three, ok."
So we get up to the third floor and the doors open.
I said
"Oh great! I got on the wrong elevator, sir."
The guy laughed!
So then this other guy gets in, and says,
"What floor you need?"
I replied,
"Two, please."
So instead of that button, what does he push?
"The fire alarm button!"
Uhhhhhhhhh!
He even pushed it a seccond time!
hahahahahahaha!
So anyway, we get down to two, and this lady comes up and says,
"Sir, do you need help?"
"Yes, mam, where is the elevator that takes me up to the 30th floor?"
To make a long story short, I get off on the 30th floor, and am on the wrong side of the hall.
Ug!
So when I finally found the room I was looking for, I told the guide dog users in there
"I sure had a hard time finding the elevator to get up here, and maybe the dogs would find the right one, as they might be more inteligent!"
No, no... "Not necessarily!"
When they asked down on the 2nd floor if I needed help, I should of said,
"Yes, mam, Where's my intelligent guide dog?"
hahahahahahaha!
Stay tuned for more storys!
Until next time, America...

E.J makes the news! Funny call on cell phone!

Greetings all!
Tonight, I'm having quite the night!
E.J, my great uncle, called me on my cell phone.
I picked it up.
"Hello?"
E.J: "Hello, is this Sweeny's?"
T.J: "Nope!"
E.J: "Oh, this is E from the J residence."
E.J: "Who am I speaking to?"
T.J: "Ty."
So he thought that I was a cattle buyer!
Poor guy! He was hoping to make a sale today.
My mom and I sat on our beds and died, laughing hysterically!
Poor E.J. must've had a hard time catching up to what we were laughing about!
Sorry E.J, I'm sure you were wanting another sale for the day!
Until next time, Ammerica...

Guide dogs mean a whole new world!

Hello all!
Today in the exhibit hall, I visited the booth for
Guiding eyes for the blind
which is a guide dog school for the blind.
They were telling me that I can apply for a dog when I'm 15, but they will not accept me until I'm 16.
So Tyler, is there something you have to go through to get the dogs?
Yes.
A 26 day course.
You live in a room, with just you and your dog.
You learn how to put on the harness, clean up its feces if you are on the street, etc, etc.

Is it true that Tyler Juranek could be the next host of Main Menu Live?

Greetings all!
Great news for you A C B radio listeners!
To answer the question in the title of this post, yes, it is verry much a possibility.
I was talking to
A C B radios
managing director, Larry Turnbull last night.
I said,
"Larry, I would like to step up to the plate and start hosting Main Menu live."
He wants me to partner up with someone to do the show.
Larry and I think that
Jeff Bishop
and I would be a good team to work together on the prodject.
However, you all need to understand that reading only this post doesn't mean that this is final.
Larry and I still need to talk with
Jeff Bishop
to see what he thinks.
If it is final, though, that will mean that I Tyler Juranek, will be the youngest brodcaster in
The history of A C B radio
Stay tuned for more updates on the subject.
Also, please be sure to

Techy tidbit Main menu segments out of production

Hey all,
I will not take the time to ramble on and on in this blog post.
I am here to tell you, that as of today, Friday, July 9th, 2010, the main menu techy tidbit segments are now out of production, and will no longer be recorded.
The remaining ones, will still air on the program, however, there will be no more segments recorded.
This is because of a lack of user feedback, and a lack of items to review.
I may record a few in the future, so you'll hear from me, but just not every show.
I thoroughly enjoyed doing this, for the last 4 or five weeks.
But I've decided my time has come to take my foot off the gas peddle and step back.
I would like to here your feedback, and if it indicates I should change my mind, I will certainly do so.
To email me, follow the link.

Also, a sincere thanks to Jamie Pauls, host of the Main Menu show, for running the tidbits.
And lastly, thank you to all of you listeners who took the time to listen to the tidbits each week.
It's truely been fun!
